OFFICIALS / REFEREE INFORMATION • 2026–27

Interested in becoming an official, or returning for another season?

NEW OFFICIALS

• Must be at least 12 years old as of December 31 of the current hockey season.

• You must have an HCR 3.0 account before registering for an officiating clinic.

• Complete Hockey Canada’s Introduction to Officiating online course before registering for your first clinic.

• The Introduction to Officiating course is an entry course for new officials; it is not repeated every year.

• After the online course is complete, register for the appropriate in-person clinic when dates and locations are posted.

RETURNING OFFICIALS

Returning officials follow the annual certification requirements for their officiating level. Check Hockey Nova Scotia’s registration page for the current requirements and clinic registration information.

IMPORTANT FOR OFFICIALS AGE 18+

Hockey Nova Scotia requires on-ice officials and supervisors who are 18 or older as of December 31 to complete a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check. A new check is required every three seasons
